What we collect when you visit this website or send us a video, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 14 October 2026

Who we are

Uncollege (“we”, “us”) runs this website. We are responsible for the personal information described here. You can contact us at uncollege.me@gmail.com.

When you visit this website

This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and it loads nothing from third parties. Our hosting provider, Netlify, may process technical information such as your IP address in server logs, to deliver the site and keep it secure.

When you send us a video or an email

If you email us a video or a link, we receive:

  • your email address, and your name if you give it;
  • the video itself, including your face, your voice and anything you say or show;
  • anything else you choose to include in your message.

Your video may include personal views, experiences or details about your wellbeing. Please share only what you’re comfortable with. You don’t have to share anything you’d rather keep private.

If you’re invited into a coaching conversation, we’ll also collect the information needed to arrange it, to record your agreement, and to look after your safety and wellbeing: your age and country, and records of your agreement.

How we use it

  • To watch and review videos, and to choose who to invite.
  • To reply to you and arrange coaching conversations.
  • To look after the safety and wellbeing of the young people who take part.
  • To learn from what people share, so we can shape what Uncollege becomes.
  • To publish something you’ve said or shown, only with your informed agreement (see below).

We will not sell your personal information, and we will not use it for advertising.

Publishing

We’ll ask for your agreement to being recorded at the start of every conversation, wherever you or Colin are. If you say no, we won’t record.

Conversations may be recorded and shared publicly. Nothing will be published without your informed agreement, which we’ll ask for separately, after we’ve explained the process.

You can withdraw your agreement at any time. We’ll then stop sharing the material and remove it from the places we control. We can’t always remove copies that other people have already made or shared.

Age

This invitation is for people aged 18 or over. We don’t knowingly collect videos or personal information from anyone under 18. If you’re under 18, please don’t send us a video. If we find out we’ve received one, we’ll delete it. We’ll explain our safeguarding and wellbeing arrangements before anyone takes part.

Our legal basis

Where data protection law such as the UK or EU GDPR applies, we rely on your consent when you send us a video and when you agree to take part or to publication; our legitimate interest in running and securing this website; and legal obligations, including safeguarding duties where they apply.

Who we share it with

Only people who need it to run this project: Colin Beavan, who leads the coaching conversations, and service providers who help us store and send information (Google, for email and file storage, and Netlify, for website hosting). These providers may store information in the United States and other countries. Where we can, we choose providers that use recognised safeguards for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.

We’ll share information with others only if the law requires it, or if we need to protect someone’s safety.

How long we keep it

  • Videos from people we don’t invite: deleted within 60 days of our decision.
  • Information about people who take part: kept for the time the project runs and up to two years after it ends, then deleted or anonymised, unless the law or safeguarding requires us to keep it longer.
  • Published material: stays up until you withdraw your agreement, as described above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the personal information we hold about you; have it corrected or deleted; restrict or object to how we use it; receive a copy in a portable format; and withdraw your consent at any time.

To use any of these, email uncollege.me@gmail.com. We’ll reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to your data protection regulator. That’s the data protection authority where you live. In the UK, it’s the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

If you live in a US state with its own privacy law, such as California, you may have similar rights, including to know what we hold and to ask us to delete it. We don’t sell your personal information.

Security

We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe, including limiting access to named people, using two-step verification and encrypted storage, and never sharing videos through open public links. No system is completely secure, so please tell us straight away if you think something has gone wrong.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we’ll tell you directly where we can.
